How it
Works.
A simple, no-nonsense guide to how Blackbox protects your digital life. No tech jargon, just the facts.
1. Your PIN is the Magic Key
Blackbox is unique because it doesn't just have one password. The PIN you type decides which vault opens.
Type 1111
Opens your Main Vault Your real private space.
Type 2222
Opens your Decoy Vault A safe-looking empty space.
Type 3333
Opens your Work Vault A separate space for business.
2. If you forget, it's gone
We take privacy seriously. We do not know your PIN. We cannot reset it for you.
CRITICAL SECURITY NOTE
If you lose your PIN, you lose the data inside that vault forever. There is no backdoor. We engineered it this way so nobody (not even us) can ever force their way in.
3. Secure Cloud Sync
Syncing keeps your vault safe if you break your phone, but your storage remains a "black box" to us. Your files are scrambled before they leave your device, we host the file, but we can't see the content.
4. It Doesn't Look Like a Vault
When someone opens the app your friend, your partner, anyone, they won't see a password screen. They'll see what looks like a simple piano app or a casual game.
WHAT THEY SEE
"Oh, you have a piano app? Cool." That's it. They tap a few keys, hear some sounds, and move on. They have no idea they're looking at a vault.
Only you know the secret melody or pattern that unlocks the real content.
Piano Mode
Looks like a real piano app. Play the right notes in sequence to unlock your vault.
Pattern Mode
Looks like a simple puzzle game. Trace the right shape to reveal your files.
5. Automatic Protection
Blackbox locks itself when you're not using it. You choose when: immediately, after 1 minute, 5 minutes, or never.
Extra tricks:
- Flip to Lock: Turn your phone face-down and the vault locks instantly.
- Background Lock: Switch apps and your vault locks after a set time.
6. Your Phone, Your Data
By default, everything stays on your phone. No sneaky uploads. No background syncing. You're in complete control of where your files live.
Cloud sync is optional and off by default. You turn it on only if you want a backup.
7. The Decoy Strategy
What if someone forces you to unlock Blackbox? Give them a decoy PIN.
THE DECOY VAULT
Fill your decoy vault with boring stuff old memes, random screenshots, whatever. When pressured, unlock that vault. They see "your files" and leave satisfied.
Your real vault? It stays hidden. They don't even know it exists.
8. Safe Deletion
Deleting a vault only deletes that specific vault. Your other vaults stay completely untouched and invisible.
Example:
- You have 3 vaults: Main, Work, and Decoy
- You delete the Decoy vault
- Main and Work are completely unaffected
9. Dead Man's Switch
Set a vault to self-destruct if you don't open it for a set period. If you lose access or disappear, the data vanishes with you.
AUTO-DELETION TIMER
You choose the duration: 30 days, 90 days, or 1 year. If the vault isn't accessed within that time, it and all its contents are permanently erased. No recovery. No trace.
10. Invisible by Design
Blackbox doesn't keep a list of your vaults. There's no "vault directory." The only way to find a vault is to know its PIN.
TRUE INVISIBILITY
Even if someone has physical access to your phone, they can't see how many vaults you have. They can't see vault names. They can't see anything.
Each vault only reveals itself when the correct PIN is entered. Otherwise, it doesn't exist.
